Began at Verizon working in the Operations Support Center (NOC) monitoring and supporting a wide variety of network and server elements. Discovered business impacting outages and assisted in obtaining the fastest possible resolutions. Worked with national call centers and network data-centers to locate, troubleshoot, and resolve customer impacting issues and outages.

• Monitored and helped to resolve issues pertaining to data-center elements such as Win NT, 2000 & 2003 Servers. Web Farms, DNS & Radius farms along with load balancing hardware. Monitored and escalated various issues concerning internal routers, Internet peering points, and WAN connectivity. Interfaced with L3 and UUNet concerning DSL circuit and dial access POPs.
  

• Administrated Solaris 9 work-group and workstations. Eventually migrated users to Intel hardware running Red Hat Linux in order to save on hardware and software costs.
  

• Developed a Perl/MySQL based, command line application to assist security group with recognizing and blocking internal customers and external MTAs responsible for sending large amounts of SPAM.
  

• Designed and developed web based applications for change management, contact management, personal paging, and document housing.
  

• Automated daily reporting duties (large number of Excel & Access reports) by deploying MS Reporting Services, writing reports to interface with a Remedy/Oracle trouble ticket system used by the NOC & customer support call centers.
